Purpose: To gain insight into the development of a universal LC-MS/MS method optimal for untargeted metabolomics discovery experiments.
Methods: Human Plasma (NIST SRM1950), E coli cell extract (Cambridge Isotopes), and Green Tea Extract (NIST SRM3255) were extracted and then analyzed with a Thermo Scientific™ Orbitrap Fusion™ Tribrid™ mass spectrometer. The data was processed using Thermo Scientific™ Compound Discoverer™ 3.0 software for metabolome coverage.
Results: A significant progress towards a universal untargeted metabolomics method has been accomplished. Here we present an insight into optimal conditions for maximal number of identifications in varying sample types.
