The daily life of an analytical scientist has changed over the past decade. New analytical techniques are constantly being developed and existing instruments/software are routinely being updated; it is crucial to stay well informed on what emerging technology could be applied to the projects and work analytical scientists are doing.
Back in 2006, we launched the Ultimate™ 3000 Systems and brought the most complete choice of HPLC systems in the industry at the time. Now, we are calling for all the Ultimate™ 3000 users and we are inviting you to share your Ultimate™ 3000 story with our scientific communities.
From now until October 30, 2022, share your experience with your Ultimate™ 3000 under this post and earn a participation gift. You are encouraged to upload a photo of you and your Ultimate™ 3000 or just the Ultimate™ 3000 set up in your lab.
Here’s how you can share your story and win a gift:
We will choose the most amazing stories to receive a bonus gift, in addition to the participation gift.

My main role as a senior analytical chemist is managing one of the analytical laboratories in my department. This involves receiving and processing analytical requests, prioritisation and delegation of these requests as well as checking and ensuring all data obtained is of a high standard prior to submission. I’ve been managing this lab for two and a half years and everything seems to be running smoothly!
I am also responsible for developing new analytical methods to be used in the quantification of active ingredients (AI) in new agrochemical formulations, utilising a variety of different techniques to create these. Methods created are used by analysts within the group for AI quantification, but are also sent for use on our global sites.
I also hold a variety of other responsibilities including first aider/responder and lab steward.
My typical day…
A typical day for me involves getting up at 06:30 then getting to work for 07:30. This might seem quite early for some, but my department offers semi-flexible working hours, so we can choose our start time as long as it is between 07:00-10:00 – it is entirely my choice to start this early! Each day is different depending on which projects I have been assigned and how far those projects have progressed, but I try to plan out the main tasks for the week in advance.
I start most days by reviewing any new analytical requests, adding those to the team planner and then accommodating any urgent requests amongst the pre-scheduled work.
my work simplify with Ultimate™ 3000 Systems. The product is coupled with diversified applications and the column supplied with it is long lasting. We can inject as many as 4000 times with the sample. and Great results The Ultimate 3000 produces more consistent and reliable results than newer models of Thermo UHPLCs. This instrument is our go-to when analyzing.
Thermo Ultimate 3000 is ultimate solution for chromatography use. In simple word the product is amazing and very user friendly. We are using Thermo Ultimate 3000 from about 5 to 6 years and product is very rugged. Many time we are using the instrument for 4 days continues with our interruption and the instrument gives best results.

My self ,Working as assistant manager in analytical research and development in a formulation unit (biological) ,before Ultimate™ 3000 System we had some other LC sytems for method development and validation.but that couldn’t handle rugged situation,we couldn’t run continuously for 2-3 days. But now, thanks to thermo Ultimate™ 3000 System, now our work is going smooth, simple user interface, can handle rugged condition, can run upto 3-4 days continuously without any problem and can test different method conditions with quartenary system. Its amazing and user friendly.
The Ultimate 3000 HPLC system has been a loyal, reliable and robust companion to our Bruker maXis for the last 12 years and it is still going strong!!
Thermo UltiMate™ 3000 is a robust machine, with Chromeleon software is user friendly.

We are using Thermo Ultimate 3000 from about 5 to 6 years and product is very rugged.
Compare to other HPLC system available in market, Thermo is too good for user to use.
Thermo UltiMate™ 3000 with Chromeleon 7.2 is the very sweet, simple and beautiful system. I am using this from last two years.
Thermo UltiMate™ 3000 product is very easy to use for new users also as system is designed very well.
Productivity has been increased by combining these two products i.e. Thermo UltiMate™ 3000 and Chromeleon 7.2. Very easy to take backup and restoration as compared to other Chromatography systems available in the industry.
Maintenance of the system is comparatively less and Thermo team is always available to provide good service.
Being an atmospheric chemist, measurements of the concentration of particulate matter and trace gases in the ambient air are one of our daily top priority tasks. Measuring the concentrations of these air pollutants 24x7 is very tedious in 6 hour working time until we came across a wide range of online monitoring devices by Thermo Fischer including various trace gases analyzers (NOx, CO, ozone) installed in the analytical lab of our department.
After analysis I find noting down the results in the notebook very boring. Important point to mention that like most of the people I too have a habit of forgetting things, in that case loosing entire results is something which can't be afforded. Here comes the importance of such smart and handy instrumentation devices which keeps a record of all the databases required for the analysis.
Attached below is a small portion of our instrumentation lab (the girl in the lab coat is obviously me) :))
