Grouping long lists of individual proteins into smaller sets of related proteins is crucial to identify proteins that may have a role in a given phenomenon or phenotype. Using knowledge bases to help with this task can be partially performed Thermo Fisher Cloud. First, grouping thousands of genes and/or proteins, by the pathways they are involved to reduce the complexity to just several hundred pathways for the experiment. Second, identifying active pathways that differ between two conditions can have more explanatory power than a simple list of different genes or proteins
