The cost of corrosion-related failures in nuclear power plants (NPPs) is significant, prompting extensive study
of corrosion-inhibiting mechanisms for nuclear power reactor systems. In pressurized water reactors (PWRs),
deposit fouling in the secondary system (steam generator) can cause undesired consequences such as heat-transfer
losses, corrosion of heat-exchange tubes, and reduction in plant output.
