Free myo-inositol was isolated from protein and fat prior to analysis. Myoinositol bound as phosphatidylinositol (hereinafter referred to as “bound myo-inositol”) was extracted and isolated from its free form and released from its bound form using acid hydrolysis prior to analysis. Myo-inositol was then analyzed by high-performance anion-exchange chromatography with pulsed amperometric detection (HPAE-PAD).
