An approach for identifying unknown compounds with high resolution/accurate mass MS data is described by Dr Robert Mistrik, CEO and founder of High Chem and the creator of the mzCloud. The mzCloud is a freely available web-based, high resolution mass spec data library to enable improved identification of unknown compounds. As of October 29th 2015 it featured approximately 260,000 high resolution/accurate mass, annotated MSn spectra. Dr Mistrik describes the challenges of unknown compound ID and his approaches to addressing this issue and features unknown identification examples from samples seized by police.
