Kirti Sharma, Project Leader at the Max-Plank Institute, highlights a comprehensive protein map of the mouse central neural system, a long-awaited brain atlas, as a means to fuel discovery within the neuroscience community. In this presentation she describes proteome analysis of the mouse bain, its major brain-region, and the CNS-cell types to a depth of ~13,100 proteins.
Also discussed are the LC-MS technologies central to the success of the brain atlas project that allowed deep investigation of proteomes in a matter of 4 hours, using data-dependent acquisition (DDA) and label-free quantitation (LFQ).
