pesticides analysis conference in pragueAfter reading the title of this post, perhaps you are wondering to yourself: Why organize yet another meeting on analysis of pesticides? Firstly, this two-day symposium, titled, 1st International Symposium on Recent Developments in Pesticides Residues Analysis, (link to symposium registration page), is intended to complement other well-established workshops, such as, EPRW and LAPRW. We are organizing the symposium to provide a platform for our customers to discuss robust, fit-for-purpose routine applications and the use of emerging technologies for the development of new and future workflows. In particular, we will present the further advancements, such as increased speed, higher resolving power, and improved analysis quality, of our Orbitrap technology for both targeted and screening pesticide analysis plus we will also be covering topics, such as sample preparation, GC-MS/MS, LC-MS/MS and IC-MS/MS and the latest in software advances to help with data interpretation and reporting.

Unlike many other pesticide events, the symposium will include information on the analysis of pesticides in food and in the environment, and there is no registration fee.

I am very excited about our list of world-class speakers from leading organizations including Dr. Katerina Mastovska (Covance Laboratories, USA) who will present a talk, titled, Never-Ending and New Challenges for Pesticide Routine Testing Laboratories, and will finish with a lecture from her teacher and mentor, the wonderful Prof. Jana Hajslovsa (ICT, Prague). We also have the pleasure of lectures from other recognized leaders in the analysis of pesticides in food including Hans Mol (Rikilt, the Netherlands). Prof. Damia Barcelo (IDAEA-CSIC, Spain) will open the environment session with a presentation, titled, The Occurrence and Risk of Pesticides in the Iberian river basins; Challenges and Solutions using Advanced Treatment Technologies in a European Context, followed by a talk by Dr. Paul Yang (Calibration and Validation Group, Canada) and Dr. Paul Gribble of Alcontrol, UK on the analysis of low concentrations of pesticides in water. All of these expert speakers will be ably supported by my colleagues.

The event will take place at the Dorint Hotel in the historic and beautiful city of Prague (pictured here in a beautiful sunrise) during the 27th and 28th of April 2015. The social program will include a conference dinner and, possibly, a boat trip, depending on numbers. Such networking opportunities are extremely important, as I know only too well from personal experience; the best collaborations and projects are often initiated in the bar!

And, while you wait for the event, I would like to share two recently released application notes that you can download and read:

I hope that we will meet in Prague, at the Pesticides Symposium (do register soon as we have limited places). I am also planning to stay for an extra two days to attend the 10th International Symposium on Recent Developments in POPs Analysis on April 28-29, 2015 and think that it will be a very beneficial conference for everyone working in this field.
