shutterstock_115340041If you are a user of GC, GCxGC, GC-MS or any combination of technology with gas chromatography, there is a great conference coming up in one of the most beautiful sceneries in the world. Let me quickly set the scene for you: a small Italian village bordering a deep blue lake, surrounded by mountains. I know I should talk about science and I will in a minute, but it is impossible for me not to revel about the sheer beauty of this landscape, the excellent wines of the region and the wonderful food.

There are many international speakers, experts in their field, sharing their findings on GC coupled with any type of technology, varying from comprehensive GC or GCxGC over GC coupled with mass spectrometers. All type of mass spectrometers: ion ratio, magnetic sectors, single and triple quadrupoles, time of flights, and orbitrap. Basically if you want to know the latest and greatest advances in capillary technology, this is the place to be.

Check out the program here.

What do dioxins and antidoping have in common? Join our seminar and find out.

Just because the field where gas chromatography is so enormous we thought we would combine two worlds into one seminar. Two worlds which are far apart in terms of analytics, but do have a common theme: they are very challenging to analyze and the impact of a positive result provides headliners in the news.  But of course, they also have another thing in common: gas chromatography!

We have been very fortunate and honored to be able to have two experts speaking on their applications. Our vendor seminar, “Life in the Lab using Thermo Scientific Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry,” is on Thursday, June 2, 10:45 a.m. - 11:45 a.m., Room 1000.

Our first speaker, Dr. Alessandro Casilli, Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, Instituto de Química, LBCD-LADETEC, Ilha do Fundão Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, will share how the lab analyzes samples for anti-doping, performing a screening analysis for performance enhancing compounds with LC-MS and their approach to analyzing with GC-IRMS for endogenous anabolic steroids in urine.

Here are excellent resources on anti-doping in case you want to find out more about this highly interesting topic.

Our second speaker, Dave Hope from Pacific Rim Laboratories will share how his laboratory analyses samples for dioxin analysis. He will give his views on how his lab has reached excellent productivity and provided accurate results for dioxin analysis from sample preparation to results.

You are most welcome to listen to a webinar, where Dave Hope explains his complete laboratory workflow.

If you are able to be there, and we do hope you will be able to join the seminar, please register and get yourself a voucher for a wonderful Italian ice cream.

In the scientific presentations --  “One year on: the Q Exactive™ GC Orbitrap™ GC-MS/MS”

We are now almost one year into the release of an Orbitrap-based GC and we will share with you our findings and analysis performed on this high resolution accurate mass system for gas chromatography. This system is a step changer in screening analysis with GC-MS and provides the highest confidence in identifying compounds without compromising on sensitivity.

If you are wondering why and how we developed this system there is a great video on the system:

On a final note and just in case you were wondering, yes, I will have multiple ice creams during this conference, just to make sure the taste is absolutely fantastic for our dear customers. And yes, I am looking forward to seeing you there!
