charlieThis May, two premier analytical science conferences take place in France and we’re excited to be involved with both of them.

SETAC, or Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry, is a large event (up to 2000 attendees) and runs from May 22 – 26.  This year, it takes place in the beautiful city of Nantes in northwestern France. At SETAC, we have a great quiz lined up, where our intrepid investigative hero, Charlie Chromeleon, will be on the trail of a pollutant that has been detected in rivers across Europe. Even if you’re not attending SETAC, you can join in the fun and follow the clues here to help Charlie identify the contaminant hidden in the grid. When the grid is complete, the offending pollutant will appear in the column highlighted in yellow. All the answers can be found in the list of priority hazardous substances listed in the European Water Framework Directive. Check out the Environmental Solutions Reference Guide on our European Water Framework Directive page for a list of these substances. Good luck in solving the puzzle!

If you’re attending SETAC, we’d love to meet you, so just drop by our booth (booth #37) to join in the quiz, learn about our instrumentation for environmental analysis (we’ll have the Q Exactive™ Focus Hybrid Quadrupole-Orbitrap™ Mass Spectrometer on show) or just have a chat!  We’re also holding a lunchtime seminar from 12:50 to 13:55 on Monday 23rd May which you can sign up for, if you’d like to, at our booth. See our SETAC event page  for more information.

Spectr’Atom, an event focused on atomic spectrometry with around 200 attendees, takes place from May 24 – 27 in the picturesque city of Pau in southwest France.  At our seminar on Wednesday 25th May (13:00 to 14:45), you’ll have the opportunity to hear about our latest innovations in atomic spectrometry hardware, such as the new iCAP™ RQ ICP-MS, and software, while enjoying a complimentary buffet lunch and coffee. See our Spectr’Atom event page for further details.  If you’re attending Spectr’Atom, you can also meet us at our booth if you’d like to discover more about our atomic spectrometry analysis solutions.

In the meantime, if you have any questions about our atomic spectrometry instruments or if you’d like a few extra clues for Charlie’s quiz, just let us know via the comments box below!
