Beautiful Harmony at the Dioxin Conference 2019

reiwa2019 marked a very important year for Japan with the start of the new era called Reiwa on May 1st. The new era coincides with the day on which Emperor Akihito's eldest son, Naruhito, ascended the throne as the 126th Emperor of Japan. Emperor Akihito abdicated the Chrysanthemum Throne on 30 April 2019, marking the end of the Heisei era (learn more here).

The kanji characters for Reiwa are derived from ancient Japanese anthology poetry, which can be interpreted in English as "beautiful harmony."

Yen coins will be released featuring the new era name, with an anticipated release of the 100-500-yen coins by the end of July 2019, just one month before the start of the 39th International Symposium on Halogenated Persistent Organic Pollutants (August 25-30, Kyoto, Japan).

Along the lines of “beautiful harmony,” researchers in a wide range of specialties will gather in Kyoto, to address the occurrence and effects of dioxin, including the behavior of POPs in the environment and food and feed, their exposure and impacts on humans, and analytical methods for measuring POPs.

Since the 1980s, this conference supported official bodies to implement measures and preventive actions for dioxins and dioxin-like compounds. Especially, by hosting the Dioxin Conference in Japan for the fourth time and twelve years after the last one, the Chair and organizing committee “...hope to share the latest information on research on POPs conducted in Japan and technologies and measures available in Japan for controlling and managing POPs, and so contribute to preserving the environment in Japan and around the world.”

With the aim of providing complete solutions for dioxins and POPs, Thermo Fisher Scientific will be showcasing the comprehensive GC-MS portfolio at the upcoming Dioxin conference 2019:

On Tuesday August 27 at 12:00 pm during the Thermo Fisher Scientific lunch seminar, attendees will have the chance to discover how these solutions address the different requirements laboratories might have for the analysis of dioxins and POPs. Special emphasis will be given to analysis throughput and compliance to current and future regulations.
Moreover, attendees will have the chance to learn more about real lab practices with Thermo Scientific solutions: experts from Nofalab Laboratories will present their experience with the DualData XL DFS Magnetic Sector GC-HRMS for almost doubled productivity for dioxins and POPs. Check the agenda and reserve your seat here.
